Receptacle for Communication Style Beds

Nurse Call Systems

Hospital beds equipped with side rail communication systems typically tie in to a nurse call system via a wall mounted connector. The cable that attaches the bed to the wall is permanently attached to the bed on one end. The cable is pulled out of the wall when staff move the bed. Then many times the cable is installed upside down causing pins to get bent and the outer shroud to get deformed. This causes the bed cord to fall out and normally a routine or emergency call will be made through the nurse call system. Once the wall mount connector is damaged the only option is to replace it. This can be a time consuming task which usually calls for the patient to be out of the room. With our new HR215 Bed Connector the task of replacing the connector is fast, easy and can be done with the patient in the room since it only takes 10-15 minutes.

This high quality bed connector makes replacing worn or broken bed ports easy. Simply remove the wall plate and snip the existing wires from the back of the bed connector one at a time. Then attach the three IDC connectors provided with the ITW Pan-Con installation tool (sold separately). There are three connectors provided and will attach to the appropriate pigtails a 5, 8 and 18 position. Follow the wiring schematic conveniently attached to the bed connector.

Complete installation time is approximately 10-15 minutes versus 2 hours commonly associated with this task. No more wiring to cross up behind the patient station.

Biomed, Engineering or Maintenance staff can change these receptacles with no nurse call system knowledge.

After the HR215 Bed Connector itself wears out the second replacement takes only a few minutes since all the wires have already been attached to the IDC connectors. Simply unplug the old connector and plug a new one on!
